开of Monteal系列文好忐忑，因为一点都没开始写呢。
最初想到开一个of Montreal系列是因为不久前买了of Montreal新专辑《Lousy With Sylvianbriar》预售。现在手头有of Montreal的16张碟，包括除了首张专辑《Cherry Peel》以外的所有11张录音室专辑；以及三张合辑（精选）：《The Early Four Track Recordings》、《If He Is Protecting Our Nation…Then Who Will Protect Big Oil, Our Children?》、《Daughter of Cloud》；EP《The Bird Who Ate the Rabbit’s Flower》、《Icons, Abstract Thee》（附赠在《Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?》日本版中）。《Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?》买过两遍。另有相关书籍《What’s Weird?》一本。具体CD清单如下：

有了这些CD，我准备做一次梳理。按照时间顺序逐张碟点评加曝光内页插画和八卦，逐首歌翻译歌词加点评。我也不明白为什么我lastfm收听排名第一的乐队是of Montreal。of Montreal好像没啥优点。歌词有趣味伤脑筋？Pitchfork最新吐槽of Montreal的歌词就是个死结，我们Pitchfork编辑是理解不了，别说脑残粉，估计Kevin Barnes自己都理解不了——然后Pitchfork还拼错了Kevin Barnes的冷僻词。of Montreal的不少歌曲都非常容易搜索，因为该单词压根就没人用。Kevin Barnes有个人魅力？就这种和电影布鲁诺里一样的娘泡气质，裸身骑白马？当众肥皂浴？有魅力？或许吧。音乐动听？of Montreal组队17年，一直在一条道上死掐，表示受不了的人远远多于喜欢他的人。居然也产生了隔代魅力，RYM上有人说“我”和我女儿都是Kevin的脑残粉……还剩什么，舞台表现力？你在说异装癖、SM和棺材吗？
特别值得称道的或许是当the Elephant 6有的人已去世、有的人写不出歌了、有的人酗酒了……种种不幸导致自90年代中期大爆发后E6逐渐成为回忆的时候，Kevin Barnes是最后坚持着的那个人。每年都发新歌，十几年如一日。不要说在the Elephant 6这个美国乡下组织里了，放眼整个美国独立乐坛，他都是个无法忽视的高产奇葩。Kevin Barnes, You are so sweet.
